Recent events in the Mark…

Monday 5th February the Bedford Lodge of Mark Master Mason’s met at their home at Alderson House in Warwick to Advance Brother Simon Butler in a ceremony superbly supported by Provincial Officers who used their combined skills to ensure Brother Simon had a great introduction to the Mark Degree. Our Deputy Provincial Grand Master, W.Bro.Mike Saxon led the call for assistance ably supported by V.W.Bro Gareth Hughes on the organ added the much needed and appreciated dignity of our ceremony with music and chants so integral to our Order. With a coupe of joining members and the prospect of another candidate for the Lodge it is hoped that this will mark a turning point in the fortune of this old Lodge who will see their Sesquicentennial celebration in 2020.

The Lodge will install its Master Elect, Brother Derek Pattison SW at their next meeting that has been provisionally rescheduled to 16th April due to the Easter clash with their regular meeting. The meeting ended with superb food and fellowship much appreciated by all.

In a recent post we covered the visit of a number of senior and well known Mark Brethren to the District Grand Lodge of Spain where led by our R.W.Provincial Grand Master Phil Wills they enjoyed a week of fun even if the weather was not as good as they would have hoped. In fact it was pretty dreadful. But always a character to bring a sunny smile to our faces, W.Bro.Barrie Ratcliffe, our effervescent Assistant Prov.GM celebrated his 80th birthday in style. Indeed I have been sent a number of pictures of Barrie as always surrounded with a bevy of glamorous ladies…no surprise there! So here are a couple I can publish!

Happy Birthday Barrie!

The Thomas Arthur Wood Lodge of MMM No.1737 met on the 12th February to complete their Installation ceremony, invest their appointed Officers and receive the customary addresses from the attending Provincial Team after their scheduled Installation was disrupted by snow back in January. A good number of our Provincial Officers led by Assistant Prov.GM, Barrie Ratcliffe who delivered a faultless address to the Master, followed by the ‘Tipton Tuneful Tornado’ W.Bro.Tony Ball Prov.SW who addressed the Wardens and W.Bro.Graham Humphreys Prov.JO who addressed the Overseers. W.Bro.Barrie expressed his thanks for the support as did Worshipful Master, Mike Burman at a most convivial Festive Board. All in all another superb Mark night out.

Finally before I sign off, I know the Province would be exceptionally grateful for as much support as possible at the Warwickshire Mark Lodge of Instruction Festival to be held after a sumptuous breakfast at Alderson House on Saturday 3rd March. Preceptor and Provincial Senior Warden, Tony Ball has said “We aim to meet for a great and inexpensive breakfast just the same as last year. The Festival will open at 11am and we would hope everyone will be away by 1pm”.

Brethren, if you follow the posts and activities on the website I am always grateful for any content you may have. As in every website, content is king.
