What a busy week in the Mark! Summer recess? I think not!

Thomas Arthur Wood Lodge – 16th July 2018

Last Monday evening, the Thomas Arthur Wood Lodge of Mark Master Masons met at ancient Guys Cliffe to receive a wonderful lecture by W.Bro.Dr from the Province of Derbyshire and District of Italy (How is it an entire Country can be a District?) on the subject of in the presence of both our Provincial Grand Master and his Assistant.

The lecture was exceptionally well received and proved to be food for thought that continued into the evening. Freemasonry has for certain been embroiled in many mysteries that have nothing to do with our so call ‘secrets’ and ceremonies. Plots and counter plots that in any case gave birth to our beloved Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons headed up for the first time by our very own Warwickshire Lad, Lord Leigh.

The Lodge also welcomed Brother John Starley as a member and balloted at the same time for an Advancee. All great for the future of this wonderful Lodge.

Signa Bene Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners – 17th July 2018

A hearty number of Royal Ark Mariners including a good number of Provincial Officers attended the Signa Bene RAM Lodge on Tuesday night to witness W.Bro.Barrie Trumper install Brother Derek Wattison in a most impressive manner in the presence of our Deputy Provincial Grand master, W.Bro.Mike Saxon RAMGR and to the delight of all present.

Following a very happy meeting the Festive Board was held at the Holly Bush literally just across the way from Ancestor Town hall. On entering the room we were all absolutely thrilled to be welcomed by tables beautifully laid out, bespoke place settings courtesy of the owner, candelabra illuminating the room and a wonderful meal. Indeed there was a touch of nostalgia reminding many of the days when we all so enjoyed dining in that way at Installations. I’m sure the Provincial Team will be clamouring in the future to enjoy such a sumptuous evening in great company!

Progress Lodge of Mark Master Masons daytime meeting Mark Lodge

“A first for the Warwickshire Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons? Bro Piara (Pete) Rama was advanced into Progress Lodge of MMM’s No 1746 at a daytime meeting. This new initiative provides a really exciting alternative to our usual evening meetings – and it was a great ceremony too!” (Courtesy W.Bro.Andrew Armbrister)

And finally….Presentation of a new Treatment Centre for St.Johns Ambulance – 21st July

“Picturesque Stoneliegh Abby, the former home of Lord Leigh, the first Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons, provided a fantastic backdrop for the presentation of a new Mobile Treatment Centre to the wonderful St John Ambulance organisation.

R W Bro Philip Wills presented the keys to Lt Col Philip Saunders OStJ TD, County President. Lt Col Philip explained the donation was so very much appreciated because his last Mobile Treatment Centre had been condemned as no longer fit for purpose by the Care Quality Commission just last year. Now XR603, as it will be known from its call sign, will be seen at events around the county, as early as the Kenilworth Half Marathon.

The day was made even more special by the presence of the High Sheriff of Warwickshire, Mrs Clare Sawdon, JP, together with Colonel Bob Carruthers OBE TD, Chairman of the Warwickshire County Priory Group of the Most Venerable Order of Saint John of Jerusalem who expressed thanks on behalf of the Community and the St John organisation.

Also there was R W Bro Bob Russell, who was our Provincial Grand Master when the Mark Benevolent Fund first presented an Ambulance to the St John organisation in 2000.

The morning was rounded off with light refreshments in the saloon, with its Corinthian pillars creating a suitable distraction.” (Courtesy W.Bro.Andrew Armbrister)

Huge thanks to W.Bro.Andrew Armbrister our Provincial DC for the reports and photographs shared on our Facebook page and social media feeds. Have a great summer Brethren all!
